The Oakridge School Horizon Report: A 1:1 Story That's Not About the Tech

Change doesn’t happen overnight; in fact, we believe that meaningful transformation requires reflection, research, and careful experimentation, even if the world seems to be moving at astronomical speeds. Come learn about the successes and challenges of The Oakridge School’s transition to a campuswide 1:1 program, a story that proved to be less about the device and more about a shift in mindset among students, faculty, and parents alike. We would like to share with others, not what we learned about the merits of one device or program over another, but how the willingness to reflect, change, and share ideas as a community led to a fundamental shift in how we defined the classroom environment. We would like to share stories of how more student-centeredness, collaboration, authenticity, and real-world basedlearning experiences have expanded students’ horizons for learning and self-discovery, not because we opened our classroom doors to technology but more because we opened our minds to the opportunity to change and grow in ways that serve our students best.
