Value of Play in Education

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Play is a critical component in development of the whole child.  Social skills such as leadership, cooperation and conflict resolution are learned navigating a child's world through play. Physical activity is a key component of play and sets the stage for lifelong healthy habits in addition to building confidence and providing opportunities to practice problem-solving skills. Literacy, geography and more can be learned through play environments developed to support a school's commitment to their student community. Creating a space that fosters play in many ways can impact the classroom and beyond.

Using the Lausanne Discovery Center as an example, experience how learning occurs through play. Learn how you can bring an impactful learning environment, with a value on play, to your school. Hear from Lausanne leader, Kara Barber about her collaboration with students and playground consultants to bring their ideas to reality and the positive impacts on the learning environment and Lausanne community.
